About Andrew
Though his first venture into social dancing was to impress a girl as an eighth grader, Andrew now sees dance as a medium for artistic expression and community enrichment. He is an international dance instructor with ten years experience dancing and teaching. In classes around the world, he draws upon social, vernacular, and classical dances to inspire and challenge his students. He brings a balanced focus to technique, body mechanics, spirit, and creativity. Andrew strives to create a positive learning environment and to communicate and decompose dance concepts with clarity and precision. Andrew studies many dance forms, but Blues is foremost among them. He loves the rich heritage of Blues and has traveled to Africa to explore its roots in Congolese and Malian dances. Always passionate about improving his own dance, Andrew continues to compete in and win competitions around the country, including Enter The Blues, Rose City Blues, and Emerald City Blues Festival. In his spare time, Andrew studies computer science and holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Design and Construction from Stanford University. He enjoys hugs, yoga, and dark chocolate.
