About Sara Cherny
Sara began blues dancing in 2001 in St. Louis, and has been on the leading edge of the blues dance community since then. She has been teaching blues dance throughout the Midwest since 2004, and in Sweet Home Chicago since 2007. She is the proud owner of Big City Blues, the leading blues dance collaborative in the Chicagoland area. As a teacher, Sara is passionate about helping the traditional forms of blues dance persist across generations, and loves getting in to the nitty gritty of what makes a dance not just good, but excellent. She is an avid event organizer, and is well recognized as a driving force behind bluesSHOUT!, the world's premiere blues dance weekend.
Follow up from Sara
"I want to clarify that, while I teasingly grouped younger dancers in to a single category of 'teeny boppers', I am highly aware that it is unfair to group all members of a cohort in to
a personality type, even if some level of stratification is evident in a social scene. There are certainly dancers of all ages who just love to dance and want to dance with everyone. These individuals, often due to the joy that they bring with them to the dance floor, easily cross any age boundaries."Videos Referenced in Interview
